About Battle Of The Bands

Battle of the Bands has proved to be an increasingly popular music event over the years and as a result of this it's now attracting more and more interest from bands and local music fans.

The event was put together, originally by PJ Walsh, to give bands in the area an opportunity to break into the local music scene and in some cases progress even further in the music world. This event also gives new bands the opportunity to perform to a large crowd on a professional stage with a state of the art sound and light system.

Past winners of PJ’s Competition include the first ever winners Rawkus, (1997). 2001 winners The Asleep, appeared on a compilation CD with signed bands. 2002 saw One Step Earnest claim the crown. In 2003 it was Lynchburg Tenn. And the 2004 winners were turnstone.

Long serving organiser PJ Walsh is still conducting his BOTB competition in Great Yarmouth and will be held at Atlantis Arena on Monday nights.

The Marina Centre is the 2005 host for the a massive debut by Lock & Load Management to further raise the profile of live music and BOTB in the Great Yarmouth area. After the success of BandFest 2004, a precedent was set in terms of sound standards. This has been carried on through to the Lock & Load Marina Centre BOTB. The PA system is larger than any other music equipment seen by all the other BOTB competitions. In addition, the Lock & Load Competition will host a varied contrast of bands making it truly satisfying for everyone’s musical taste.

As all hardened fans of rock and other genres of music would tell you, the Marina Centre's atmosphere delivers a far greater music venue feel than the other local venues. To enforce this FACT, the mighty Lowestoft band 'Darkness' played there only a year ago suggesting that this venue is superior enough for any band with large calibre to play the music they love.

The Lock & Load BOTB is held on Thursday’s at 8 till 10pm , admission is £1.50.
